TALENT

Immediately after the lockdown struck India, Arthan conducted a survey to understand the impact of COVID-19 on hiring and appraisal processes. A survey of 130+ organisations showed that 64% of respondents had frozen hiring completely due to the unforeseeable future/lack of funding/unawareness of the strategy for 2020. As a follow up, we conducted another detailed survey as a deep dive and with data from ~70 organisations, we found that 1,084 jobs that were planned during pre-Covid era had to be scrapped later, while 65% of the organisations have faced a reduction in funding. This data does not even begin to scratch the surface of the challenges with respect to talent that the sector would face in the coming months and years.

 WHY WE ARE DOING THIS

The talent track is a meeting point - to bring together players from across the sector - those who support the talent function and those who need its support to build the civil society in the times to come.

The impact of COVID-19 on the social sector in India has thrown open the need for focusing on building human capital in new ways as we script a new normal. From the way we hire to the way we work, from the skills we hire for to the HR systems in place, this pandemic is changing a lot of things. There is a greater need to think about keeping teams motivated, finding alternatives for jobs most impacted, re-orienting the way we network as well as re-think higher education opportunities. This track aims to bring together experts from the field to discuss, deliberate and solve for some of the critical challenges organisations and individuals will face with respect to talent and jobs in the impact sector.
